How to Solve One-Step Equations

1) Solve for x.

x - 23 = 8

Add both sides of the equation by 23.

2) Solve for n.

n + 2 = 9

Subtract both sides of the equation by 2.

3) Solve for k.

9k = - 27

Divide both sides by 9.

4) Solve for a.

Multiply both sides by 2.

5) Solve for y.

y + {\large{1 \over 4}} = {\large{1 \over 2}}

Subtract both sides by \large{1 \over 4}.

6) Solve for m.

0.25\,m = 2

Divide both sides of the equation by 0.25.

7) Solve for d.
