I must say that there is no alternative for paying attention in class, writing down notes, studying at home, and doing a lot of independent practice using pencil and paper. However, there are times when a teacher or tutor is not available to help you solve a math problem. This can be frustrating at times. Well, don't worry. Mathway can be that extra "eye" to help double check your work.
Mathway's free math solver is an excellent tool to check your work for free. Just type in the math problem using its prescribed syntax and it will give you the correct answer. Here is a quick tutorial on how to enter a problem in Mathway.
If you want to see how Mathway solves the problem step by step, you may click and it will redirect you to the developer's website for a modest subscription fee. However, if what you need is simply to check if you arrived at the correct answer, then the widget here should be sufficient.
Refresh your browser if it doesn't load the first time. Trust me, it happens :)
Quick Guide How to Enter a Problem inMathwayWidget
Pick your math subject - The top row of the Mathway widget contains tabs of various math subjects which are Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics.
Enter your math problem in the space provided - Although the keyboard is sufficient enough to input most of your problems, I recommend that you take advantage of the useful math operators located directly on top of the "input box". This allows us to enter the problem in a syntax or format that we are used to, just like how we write the problem on paper.
Click the "Show" button to verify Math format - It doesn't mean that whatever you entered in the box is the desired problem. That's why you need to verify it by clicking the Show button. What it does is show you how Mathway "sees" your problem. At that point, use this information to make the necessary adjustment as needed.
Click the "Answer" button to generate a result - Assuming that you entered the correct problem, Mathway will show an answer that is either exactly the same on what you have on paper, or a similar one. Remember that for any given problem in math, it is possible to have multiple ways in writing the final answer. It is up to you to make the connections between Mathway's answer and yours. Just like any web calculators, use this with caution since every computer algorithm designed to solve a math problem has limitations.
Enter new problem or edit existing one - After seeing the answer, you may scroll down within the widget to enter a new problem, or edit the one that you may have incorrectly entered.
